MLK Drive is a focus of this year's celebration. The City of Philadelphia closes MLK Drive to motor vehicle traffic between the Falls Bridge and Sweetbriar Drive on weekends, every year, to increase recreational access for the public. Closures

Join us for a riveting evening with Dorian Anderson to learn about his exciting yearlong adventure as he took a two-wheeled eco-friendly twist on the Big Year project, where a birdwatcher tries to observe as many species as possible during a calendar year. He ultimately survived subzero temperatures, drifting snow, gusting winds, lightning storms, mountainous ascents, dog attacks, crumbling roads, and several accidents. By the end of his travels, he had spotted 618 bird species across 18,000 miles of biking! Cyclists are invited to experience a hassle-free overnight bike camping trip over the Memorial Day weekend on the next Bikeout group ride. The popular event, hosted by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, promises a weekend of adventure and outdoor fun along Greater Philadelphia’s Circuit Trails network. Riders will gather near the Art Museum in downtown Philadelphia and travel approximately 38 miles along the scenic Schuylkill River and the Perkiomen Creek before spending the night at Camp Kweebec and riding back to Center City the following day.
