Interconnected features artwork by members of local women’s arts group, Artessa Alliance, reflecting each artist’s relationship with the more-than-human world. Some works are based on close observation of nature; others are inspired by natural forms and systems. Many incorporate foraged and natural materials. Through a variety of styles and media, Interconnected is a creative meditation on the web of life.
Ursula Sternberg: Daydream is a celebration of the career of Philadelphia area artist, the late Ursula Sternberg. Sternberg’s life and career spanned many mediums and multiple continents taking her from Nazi occupied Germany to Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. From the 1970s to her death in 2000, Sternberg was actively involved in the Philadelphia art scene, fostering maker spaces that brought together the local community of artists for an opportunity to socialize, inspire, and be inspired. InLiquid is excited to invite you to take an evening to slow down, relax, enjoy light refreshments, and hear some short remarks from the artists of Raking Light. As summer turns to fall, the angle of the sun’s rays becomes more acute and the shadows they cast grow more pronounced. This new light alters which details are accentuated or recede. In Raking Light, the interplay of light and shadow features prominently in the works of the four artists on view. Through distinct processes artists Polly Bech, Jean Burdick, Meegan Coll,and Jennifer Brinton Robkin encourage a renewed examination of our surroundings
