Interconnected features artwork by members of local women’s arts group, Artessa Alliance, reflecting each artist’s relationship with the more-than-human world. Some works are based on close observation of nature; others are inspired by natural forms and systems. Many incorporate foraged and natural materials. Through a variety of styles and media, Interconnected is a creative meditation on the web of life.
Walking the Edge is a communal display on the experience of walking in nature. We are inviting the public to share their creative impressions, reflections and encounters on walking borders, limits and perimeters in nature as they are expressed through art. Curated by Jacques-Jean Tiziou of “Walk Around Philadelphia”, our fourth bi-annual community exhibition embraces walking as an artistic practice that reflects on our interconnectedness with nature.
Philadelphia Solar Energy Association has launched a contest for students in grades 5 - 12 to Imagine a Clean Energy Future. In order to build a sustainable future, we have to be able to see it. The contest has three categories, and students may enter submissions in 1, 2 or all 3 of the categories: Visual Arts: all visual media accepted: drawings, paintings, collages, etc. Language Arts: 500 words or less essay, poem or other written format Video: 90 seconds or less showing an invention, or other idea to help us build a clean energy future. The Clay Studio presents Figuring Space, a new exhibition comprised of full-scale, figurative sculptures by 12 leading ceramic artists based in the United States. Each of the artists explores their individual cultural identity and what it means to be human through their figurative sculptures. The powerful figures will serve as a body of evidence to lay bare the issues that permeate American art and social culture. Figuring Space is co-curated by Jennifer Zwilling, Curator and Director of Artistic Programs at The Clay Studio, and Dr. Kelli Morgan, Professor of the Practice and Director of Cultural Studies at Tufts University.

Moghbeli’s work abstracts traditional Persian calligraphy and combines it with Farsi poetry and fragments of CIA documents, capturing the undulating course of Iranian culture and national identity.

Since it’s 4-person artist residency origins in 2016, Walk Around Philadelphia has grown into a pilgrimage experience where hundreds (ranging in age from 12 to 94) have set out to explore the city’s border. In this workshop participants will be guided to experiment with different papermaking techniques to create a one of a kind Valentine's! During this workshop participants will learn the basic Western papermaking process and will be introduced to creative experimental techniques. Working with stencils, thread, cut paper and moulds students will learn to manipulate different colored paper pulps to complete a full image.Participants are encouraged to bring stencils, thread, fabrics, paper or other flat objects of their preference to include on their Valentine’s creation.
