On view at the Center for Art & Social Engagement in Westby Hall from October 4 through December 21, Gaia Theory, an exhibition of Emily Erb’s collage and silk paintings. Erb embeds within the boundaries of a larger-than-life human form, navigational charts such as road, topography, and war campaign maps to represent the different facets of the human physiological system. Road maps become the nervous system, topographical maps become the circulatory system, and war maps become the lymphatic system. Meet at Crefeld trailhead- Crefeld St. near Norman Lane. Park on Crefeld. Please join Andi, Debbie, and Jim as we hike the Wissahickon in November. They will show how the flora and fauna differs from when they last did this hike in May, as you walk on the Lavender, Orange, and Yellow Trails. The hike also includes visits to some sites of historical interest. Expect a hilly and rocky terrain and one steep climb on this hike. Children 12 years and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but please no dogs other than service animals. Distance: 3 miles
