Winter Gardening: Garden Planning – Sessions 1 & 2

For Adults & Teens ages 15-17
Session 1:  Sunday, January 25, 2026, and Session 2: Sunday, February 8, 2026. Both sessions from 1:00 to 2:30 pm
Dreaming of creating your perfect vegetable or perennial garden this season? Want to add to an existing garden bed? Love gardening, but unsure where to start?
If you are curious about garden design, best practices for a healthy garden, or simply want to learn more about selecting plants this spring, this program is perfect for you!
This two-part program (register for one or both sessions; individual sessions sold separately), led by Senior Gardener Bess Trout, will help you design a new planting, add to an existing planting, or map out a garden for the year so you can set yourself up for success this growing season.
Session 1 will cover the basics of garden design, including how to plan a garden that supports plant health, as well as some best practices for utilizing available space to create a vibrant and productive vegetable garden.
Session 2 will specifically focus on your garden sites! That’s right, this portion of the class will function as a workshop where you can submit your garden or site photos. As a group, we’ll go through each and answer questions you might have about your design. Bring your questions! We can’t promise to find answers for all of them entirely (we’re looking at you, white-tailed deer!), but this is an opportunity to ask for feedback from a Tyler gardener and brainstorm ideas as a group.
Where to meet: Check in at the Visitor Center, then enjoy a short, 5-minute walk to the Garden Schoolhouse. Please arrive early to allow time for the walk.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
MEMBERS:  Save 15%! Adults & Teens: $42.50 per person for the 2-session package; $21.25 per person per individual session. A registered adult must accompany all teens.
NON-MEMBERS: Adults & Teens: $50 per person for the two-session package; $25 per person per individual session. A registered adult must accompany all teens.
