Volunteer Service at Carpenter’s Woods

Meeting at Wayne Avenue Trailhead (see map here)
This location will not require hiking to access from the available parking areas.
Please note that there will not be bathroom access during the service day.
Would you like take part in keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join us this Saturday in partnership with the Friends of Carpenter’s Woods! This relatively small section of the Wissahickon, while frequented amongst West Mt. Airy neighbors, is not widely-known to many regular visitors of the Park. We’ll be completing a variety of stewardship tasks in the area!
All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said, this service day may include the following activities:
• Trail work: using long-handled tools for scraping, digging, tamping, and cutting; moving heavy objects
• Invasive plant removal: bending over, using long handled tools for cutting vines
• Litter clean-up
We provide gloves, tools, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people, please reach out to us first.
