Experience the bioluminescent wonder of fireflies on this after-hours hike!
As dusk settles and darkness envelops the Arboretum we will head into the forest to visit several locations where we expect to observe fireflies at this time of year – fields, meadows and at the forest edge. Our guides Dick Cloud and John Bunting will share points of special interest and seasonal highlights. In addition to fireflies we hope to see and hear some of the nocturnal wildlife that make a home in Tyler’s natural areas! Hiking at night is a unique sensory experience. We will use our sense of hearing, smell and touch to navigate the forest.
This leisurely-paced hike is for adults and youth comfortable walking on uneven terrain that may include short distances along steep trails. All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a flashlight and wear sturdy hiking boots.
