Join Philadelphia Ballet, the African American Museum in Philadelphia and the Clef Club for a panel and performance celebrating the work of Alvin Ailey, an American Dance icon. For the second time in Philadelphia Ballet’s history, Ailey’s iconic choreography will be performed in Dance Masterpieces.
Join us for a captivating panel discussion featuring esteemed dance luminaries Angel Corella, Sylvia Waters, Antonio Douthit-Boyd, Chaya Masazumi and distinguished music historian, Guthrie Ramsey.
Learn about Ailey’s process and vision as well as renowned maestro, Duke Ellington, who created the score to Ailey’s The River.
Together, they will delve into the significance of The River within the realm of ballet, examining its relevance for contemporary ballet companies and celebrating the impactful legacy of Alvin Ailey’s contributions to the dance world.
