Painter History Tour

FOR ADULTS & YOUTH AGES 12-17
Step back in time to explore the stories of the Minshall, Painter, and Tyler families. On this guided tour, visit historic structures such as Lachford Hall, the Painter Library, the Springhouse, the Fruit Vault, and the Greenhouse. Discover how these Quaker families used the land and left a lasting legacy, including a remarkable collection of trees planted by the Painter brothers. Travel over 260 years of history as we uncover how Tyler’s past continues to shape its present.
About your guide: As an experienced docent, Nancy Heinbaugh enjoys sharing many aspects of Tyler with others, including the gardens, collections, and history. She is especially interested in explaining the relationships between plants and insects, whether at the Pollinator Preserve, on the trails or in one of the meadows.
An adult must accompany all youth. Check-in first at the Visitor Center, where you will meet your guide.
MEMBERS (don’t forget to sign into your member account!): FREE
NON-MEMBERS: $18 per adult; $10 per youth ages 12-17. The non-member fee includes admission for the day, so feel free to stay as long as you’d you’d like!
GUEST PASS REGISTRANTS (for non-members only): FREE. Please give the Visitor Center Associate your guest passes at check-in, or if you are accompanying a Family Plus member or above, please let the Visitor Center Associate know.
