“Glass House + Meddow” x 40PNPB 2nd Thursday Reception

Join us on June 8th, from 6-9 PM, in the InLiquid Gallery, for the opening of our latest exhibition, Glass House + Meddow, and for the unveiling of an exterior art installation by our 40PNPB Artist Ambassador, Jazmyn Crosby.

Glass House + Meddow features three separate art installations by Donna Backues, Chantal Westby, and Jaime Alvarez. By focusing on this particular spot on the planet, Glass House + Meddow examines the human impact on the local environment to engage with a global issue, and make community participation and sustainable action more accessible. In pursuit of perspective in the face of overwhelming crisis, three local Philadelphia artists – Jaime Alvarez, Donna Backues, and Chantal Westby – examine the past, present, and future of human impact within the River Wards.

As part of her ongoing ambassadorship, Jazmyn Crosby has installed site-specfic weavings to the upper portion of the 6 exterior window grates of the Inliquid Gallery. All materials used in the fabrication of Jazmyn’s installation were sourced from our local sustainability partner, Rabbit Recycling. The creation of this public work is meant to facilitate community engagement and discussion, using art as a gateway to talk about our community’s role in sustainability.
