Garlic Mustard Pesto Making and Weeding

May 5 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
Join us as we weed out a large patch of highly invasive Garlic Mustard. We will then proceed to the kitchen and create a tasty pesto.

Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolate) is a tasty plant, and a highly invasive plant that threatens many of our native spring plants. The leaves and stems are edible and true to its name, taste like a combination of garlic and mustard. Leaves and stems can be added to salads, cooked like spinach, or ground into a tasty garlic mustard pesto!

Join us as we weed out a large patch of Alliaria petiolate growing through native plants, such as May Apple and ferns. Then we will return to the building, harvest the leaves and a few stems, and create a garlic mustard pesto for eating!

Wear long pants and sturdy shoes. We suggest you bring a water bottle. Bring gloves, or we can supply you with gloves.
