Join our partner, Heather Houskeeper—also known asThe Botanical Hiker—in exploring the array of edible and medicinal plants at Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary. Heather will provide valuable methods for confident identification, ethical harvest, and easy preparation. Many edible or medicinal plants may be found in your own backyard, in the garden as common weeds, or in other natural places you frequent.
Learn how to transform these wild plants into delicious snacks, medicinal teas, and home remedies. The walk will be easy to moderate with many stops along the way to meet the plants.
Please note that this walk is educational in nature and that no plants will be harvested from the preserve. All of Natural Lands’ properties are Leave No Trace; foraging is not permitted.
Just some of the plants you might see on this walk include staghorn sumac and birch (pictured below).
