For Adults and Teens ages 15-17
We will be hiking out with guides Sarah Boucas Neto and David Eberly to see owls in the Pinetum, as well as some areas outside the deer exclusion fence. We’ll be on the lookout for Great Horned, Screech, and Barred Owls. Less likely but always possible are Saw-whet and Long-eared owls. If the sky cooperates, we will be treated to a waning crescent moon at the start of the walk. Listening to owls calling in the moonlight is an experience not to be missed.
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Registration closes at 6 pm the evening before the program, so make sure to register on time.
Gates will open at 5:45 am and close promptly at 6:10 am, so please be on time. The group will meet on the Visitor Center Patio and return to the parking lot by 8 am. Intended for all-level birders and owl enthusiasts. Rain or shine. Please wear layers and have appropriate hiking shoes or boots for wet conditions. Bring binoculars and hiking sticks to assist in challenging terrain. Pack water and food.
