Like discovering new cultural cuisine? Looking for a fun night out with friends? Enjoy a summer evening at the American Swedish Historical Museum to indulge in a Swedish specialty: crayfish!
At one time the lakes of central Sweden were filled with crayfish, but overfishing decimated their population. Eventually, the government prohibited the catching of crayfish except for a short time in late summer. After going the whole summer without the delicacy, the return of crayfish to the dinner table in August became a great cause for celebration, a tradition that has continued through today.
Please join us on the Museum’s stunning terrace overlooking FDR Park for a crayfish dinner on Friday, August 8th to experience our take on the Swedish crayfish tradition! Enjoy a buffet of crayfish and Swedish meatballs, alongside potatoes, cheese pie, cucumber and beet salads, desserts, and a glass of aquavit, all outside under our tent decorated with paper lanterns, festive lights, and all things crayfish!
$60 for ASHM members and $70 for non-members. Register online by August 4th.
