You are invited to the first ever CLIMATE ANXIETY DANCE PARTY, where you are welcome to thrash and groove in all sorts of socially unacceptable ways. The International Panel on Climate Change has told us that we need to hit peak emissions by the year 2025. That’s this year!! Wait, it gets better. We have 5 years left until we need to halve emissions from 2019 levels. Do these facts give you feelings?! Take a moment to notice that emotion contains the word motion. We are moved by our emotions and can also move and transform them by moving our bodies. It’s true! Stress has tangible effects. We can get stuck in a flight or fight mode. Engaging our bodies activates the parasympathetic nervous system, allows us to complete the stress response, and unclench the energy we need to move the world. CLIMATE ANXIETY DANCE PARTY is part experimental dance class, part somatic therapy, and part ceremony with a backbeat for world transformation. Come dressed comfortably, come ready to share a messy smorgasbord of feelings, and come ready to shake it all loose.
