Meeting at Wayne Avenue Trailhead
This location will not require hiking to access from the available parking areas.
Please note that there will not be bathroom access during the service day.
Would you like take part in keeping Wissahickon Valley Park beautiful and sustainable? Then join us this Saturday in partnership with the newly relaunched Friends of Carpenter’s Woods! This relatively small section of the Wissahickon, while frequented amongst West Mt. Airy neighbors, is not widely-known to many regular visitors of the Park. We’ll be completing a variety of stewardship tasks, including refreshing the area around the kiosk, removing invasives, and clearing trail corridors.
All are welcome to attend, and no experience is needed. We encourage attendees to work within their own comfort level, and we always strive to accommodate needs on an individual basis. With that being said, this service day may include the following activities:
• Trail work: carrying and using long-handled tools, moving large rocks
• Invasive plant removal: bending over, using long handled tools
• Litter clean-up
• Repetitive motions
We provide gloves, tools, and instruction–you just need to show up! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and remember to bring water with you. Detailed information and confirmation of the meeting location will be sent by email the day before the event. If you are hoping to bring a group of 5 or more people, please reach out to us first. For more information contact Marisa Miller at miller@fow.org.
Thanks to our partners at Friends of Carpenters Woods!
