Bundle Dyeing with Food Waste Dyes with Laura Hricko
April 7 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Learn how to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns on textiles using a variety of kitchen scraps, food waste dyes, and spices.
With the guidance of Laura Hricko of Dye Club, learn how to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind patterns on textiles using a variety of kitchen scraps, food waste dyes, and spices. This workshop will lead participants through one of the most water-wise natural dye processes, known as bundle dyeing. You will leave this workshop having created two naturally dyed fabric samples, and a handout that will direct you towards continuing your investigation of these practices on your own. Get inspired by these humble materials as you create works of art on fabric that will lead you to rethink the creative potential of food waste before it hits the compost pile.
When registering, if it’s within your means, please consider a donation when registering through Eventbrite to help us cover the expenses of this workshop. The cost to run this workshop works out to be $25 per person.
This workshop will have enough materials available for 16 people. If you register to attend, please be mindful we are purchasing supplies for you. If you can no longer come, even if it’s the day of, please let us know so we can open your seat for someone else to be able to use the purchased materials.
This event is presented in partnership with Da Vinci Art Alliance’s Everyday Futures Fest.
