Botanical Bundle Dyeing with Modest Transitions at South Street

Join Melanie Hassan from Modest Transitions for a beginner-friendly botanical bundle dyeing class in the beautiful Manayunk Pop Up Garden! Bundle dyeing is a natural dye technique that creates botanical prints, patterns, and “organic tie-dye” effects using dried and fresh flowers, bark, extracts, and kitchen waste. In this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to explore botanical alchemy using plant materials to create their own custom-dyed bandana.

This workshop will cover:

• Ways to achieve mirrored, confetti, tie-dye prints and patterns
• Identification of plant materials used for successful printing and color contact
• Hot bath extraction
• Color modification
• Washing and care instructions for naturally dyed textiles

No experience is needed to join the class, perfect for adults (14+) and children (7-14)
