This year’s lineup features two rides and thirteen bike-themed films from across the globe, ranging from riveting travelogues, trippy animation, and inspiring documentaries to immersive visual poems, edgy family drama and a laugh-out-loud short about bike shorts.
The fun starts at noon at the Fountain of Seahorses, where Yellow Bicycle will join the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia on a ride for all ages. Around 1:45, YBC will lead a short ride from the fountain to the theater, where film screenings and talkbacks will take place from 2:30 to 5:30 pm, with intermission.
Then to top it off, we’ll be cycling 7 scenic miles past the Rocky Steps and up the Schuylkill River Trail to Taqueria Amor in Manayunk to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. What better way to spend National Ride a Bike Day?
Note: All films are screened with open captions for the hearing impaired.
