Just in time for tomorrow’s National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, Philly resident (and Grid contributor) Bernard Brown has gotten some nice press on The Atlantic‘s Food Channel. The writer, James McWilliams, opens by discussing the recent announcement by Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm that March 20, 2010 will be “Michigan Meatout Day.” This led to an inevitable kerfuffle from carnivorous citizens and the meat industry. McWilliams then introduces Brown:
To be sure, Brown is eager to see meat consumption lowered. But he’s promoting the time-honored sandwich as an indirect way to lessen it. The hair he splits is a fine one, but it clearly distinguishes him from other anti-meat advocates. He’s telling people what they can do rather than what they can’t.

Lastly, if you plan on celebrating the holiday, may I suggest picking up some peanut butter from the Pennsylvania Dutch in Reading Terminal Market. It’s ground to order, and its spectacular.
