Community Hero Action Group (CHAG) will host its fourth annual Pennsylvania Black Health Matters Conference. This free four-day-long hybrid conference will hold a festival on Saturday, April 13th, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST held at Vernon Park, 5800 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia, PA, with live entertainment, dancing, food, giveaways, health demos, a voting lounge, the “Woosah” area, and more. The remaining days of the conference include a line-up of prominent speakers such as Senator Art Haywood, Commissioner Omar Sabir, and Keisha Hudson, Philadelphia Chief Defender. Volunteers will work alongside Farm staff to support seasonal plantings, harvesting, weeding, invasive species removal, and orchard support. Volunteers will meet at the Sankofa Community Farm at 9:30 AM and be separated into groups and provided with instructions and safety protocols for the day. Out of respect and safety for our staff and others, please arrive on time. PLEASE NOTE: Each adult must register individually in order to complete the waiver. Parents/guardians must complete registration for individuals 18 and under. Registration full but would like to still participate? Please contact Kimani Keaton at kimani@bartramsgarden.org to be added to our waitlist.

Develop basic drawing skills through observing and sketching a variety of flowers, leaves, and branches. Explore line, shape, and form, and follow up with instructor demonstrations. Meet at Walnut Lane Golf Club Join Debbie and Jim as we hunt for spring ephemerals! Last year we saw spring beauties, mayapples, trout lilies, trillium, and possibly jack-in-the pulpit. Will we be that lucky this year? We’ll also check on what the frogs are doing at the frog pond. We may also visit some points of historical interest on our route. Kids don’t have school on certain national and religious holidays, so what better way for them to spend a day off than enjoying time at camp? On four separate holidays this spring, Awbury Arboretum will be hosting a day of camp from 8:30am-3:30pm, with a full day’s activities: games, hiking, lunch over a campfire (hot dog lunch provided, or you can send your own), s’mores, scavenger hunts, crafts, and time spent exploring nature. This eight-hour course* will be offered through recorded sessions available until July 31. Workshop topics include tree biology, identification, planting, and proper care. During this one hour experience, visitors will be guided through the site and exhibit, The Turmoil of Transition: The mid-nineteenth century at Cliveden.
