Next Wednesday, March 10, begins the one-month count down to the third annual Philly Spring Cleanup. The kickoff event will begin at 1 p.m. and take place, fittingly, in the 2500 block of East Gordon Street in Fishtown—last year’s winner of the Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee (PMBC) Clean Block award. Tons of local leaders will be present, including Mayor Michael Nutter, Streets Department Commissioner Clarena Tolson, Director of Office of Sustainability Katherine Gajewski, Fishtown community groups and passionate local residents. Community groups from across Philadelphia will also be in attendance, including PMBC, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful, City Year, MLK365, Fairmount Park, Department of Recreation, Global Citizen and The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services.
