Monarch Butterly Celebration and Sustainability Fair
Join us on Sunday, October 4, for a Monarch Butterfly Celebration and Sustainability Fair in the Jenkintown Town Square from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
We’ll have a presentation on the Monarch Butterfly at 12:30, followed by a butterfly tag & release (conditions permitting) as part of the Monarch Watch Tagging Program. The Monarch Watch Tagging Program is a large-scale community science project initiated in 1992 to help understand the dynamics of the monarch’s spectacular fall migration through mark and recapture. Representatives from Bird Town PA, Back to Earth Compost Crew, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership, and others will be on hand to share information about ways we can all support sustainable choices every day.
We will be collecting single-use plastic bags/wraps and small-item recycling (cell phones, eyeglasses, printer ink cartridges, string lights)
