Collaborate on a Group Print with us! Learn about Collagraphs and an inkless printmaking method using crayons and recycled cardboard.
The first of our 2024 Linda Dubin Garfield Fellowship exhibition, “Press Change” workshops!
In this workshop, we will use our understanding of shape and symbolism to make prints about community and care, as well as collaborate on a group print. Learn about Collagraphs and an inkless printmaking method using crayons and recycled cardboard.
This workshop is open to all! We invite everyone who is interested in diy printmaking methods and making work in community. This workshop is the participants will use scissors.
On Pressing Change Printmakers and educators Felisa Adderley, Joy Lai and Sofie Rose Seymour pull from their experience in both worlds to examine the ways the act of printmaking intersects with the act of educating — and how both can be tools to share information and amplify movements.
Adderley, Lai and Seymour are the Linda Dubin Garfield fellows at Da Vinci Art Alliance and their exhibition is the product of a year’s work. Over the course of the fellowship, these artists have asked, “How can we empower people to use printmaking to work towards the changes that are so pressing in our world today?”
This event and free and open to all. Suggested donation to attend is $10 per person.
DVAA is a historic row home in the Bella Vista neighborhood. We are not yet wheelchair accessible; Da Vinci is a three floor gallery with narrow staircases. (We are working towards becoming ADA accessible by 2027!) It is 5 steps up to the first floor level, and 14 steps from the first to second floor, where the gender-neutral bathroom is located. Da Vinci has masks and COVID tests available at our events. We can reserve seats for low-vision and Deaf and HoH community members as needed. DVAA exhibitions are free to visit and all of our programs are free or suggested donation. If food is being served at the event you are coming to, please reach out to us about dietary restrictions. For information, or to notify our team members of any needs prior to your visit, please contact [email protected].
