FOR ADULTS & TEENS AGES 15-17
Experience the magic of Tyler’s natural areas as day transitions to night and fireflies light up the darkness.
The days are long in June, allowing us to begin this hike in daylight and end under the light of the full moon and the glow of fireflies. Hiking at night offers a unique sensory experience. We will rely on our senses of hearing, smell, and touch to navigate the forest. Our guides, Dick Cloud and John Bunting will share points of special interest and seasonal highlights along the way. As darkness falls over the Arboretum, we hope to witness fireflies as they begin their light show.
This moderately paced hike is for adults and teens comfortable walking 3+ miles on uneven terrain, which may include short distances along steep trails. All teens must be accompanied by an adult. Bring a flashlight and wear sturdy hiking boots.
This program starts after Tyler’s closing hours. Gates will open 15 minutes before the program begins and close promptly 10 minutes after the start time, so please be on time. Please park in Tyler’s overflow lot and check in with the staff associate at the Horticulture Building, where the group will gather.
