Community Paint Day with the Tacony CDC and Mat Tomeszko
March 23 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us on Saturday March 23rd from 1:00pm-3:00pm for a Community Paint Day
Still Life is a genre of art that typically depicts ordinary objects from everyday life. It is deceptive in its simplicity, because by recording these objects in paint, over time it becomes a record of history, and speaks volumes about individuals and a community.
The Tacony Community Development Corporation is working with artist Mat Tomeszko to create a community Still Life Project inspired by the stories of Tacony. This Spring, we’ve been collecting stories about the neighborhood and what it means to Tacony’s residents and visitors. These stories will be turned into series of temporarily installed murals at multiple locations along Torresdale Avenue, with three large, central compositions containing all the objects from our stories in a classical arrangement, as well as several small, individual objects installed throughout the community.
This event is the first of a series of Community Paint sessions, to be hosted at the Tacony LAB Community Arts Center (6918 Torresdale) on March 23rd from 1-3 PM. Join us to contribute to this Still Life Project and to make your mark on the Tacony neighborhood!
