Join us and the Roxborough-Manayunk-Wissahickon Historical Society for a guided walk along the perimeter trail of Philly’s highest park! Once slated for development, this rare wetland habitat was preserved through more than 20+ years of determined community action beginning with support from Friends of the Wissahickon. This is your chance to take a twilight hike around the Upper Roxborough Reservoir Preserve and learn more about these fascinating nocturnal creatures on a walk led by Kris Soffa and JoAnne Woods of the Andorra Free Library. Why do bats matter and how can we support the habitat they depend upon? Be prepared to greet a special guest and walk on uneven trails in the twilight and bring a flashlight.     The Upper Roxborough Reservoir has a little bit of everything: woods, meadows, wetlands, and open water.The Upper Roxborough Reservoir is a Philadelphia Parks and Recreation facility. The mostly drained reservoir has a little bit of everything: woods, meadows, wetlands, and open water. We can observe canopy-feeding birds at eye level in the trees growing on the steep slope of the old reservoir. The reservoir's north rim is a great vantage point for scanning the open sky for migrating raptors.
