Then join long-time steward of the Wissahickon and the FOW Volunteer of the Year (2019), David Bower, on a variety of stewardship projects on Wednesday mornings! Locations and tasks will vary week to week, and may include trash clean-ups, trail improvements, invasive plant removal, graffiti removal, and general park beautification. David’s many years of experience in the Wissahickon means you’ll learn a lot about the valley while also making a positive impact on it. No experience is needed.   • Hybrid Valley Talk: Postcards from the Wissahickon with David Bower

    The period between about 1898 and World War 1 is known as the Golden Age of Postcards, with U.S. Postal Service estimates of a billion postcards mailed and collected. Join long-time steward of the Wissahickon and our 2019 Volunteer of the Year, David Bower, as he shares highlights from the more than 3,000 Wissahickon postcards filling 18 albums that he’s collected from that time over the past three decades. A natural storyteller, David will connect his postcards’ views of the Valley Green Inn, Historic Rittenhousetown, bridges, and even some things that no longer exist, to the past, present, and future

    Do you love Wissahickon Valley Park? Would you like to play a direct role in keeping this special place clean and accessible for generations to come? Then join us for a variety of stewardship projects on Tuesday mornings!   • Weekly Wednesday Clean Up: Tacony Creek Park

    Join your neighbors and TCP Keepers to clean Tacony Creek Park and its gateways. All tools and supplies will be provided, including work gloves, snacks, and water. Restrooms are not available. Please bring a reusable water bottle if you have one. We provide a free reusable water bottle to volunteers. We follow Philadelphia guidelines & will provide masks. 25 person limit for this event.
