    Brittany Ann Tranbaugh, 2021 winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, will open Hansberry Garden & Nature Center’s 2025 Summer Concert Series on Thursday, May 29, at 6 p.m. with a performance in the garden’s Dr. Edward Chun Amphitheater. Brittany Ann Tranbaugh (pronounced TRAN-baw) is a Philadelphia-based songwriter whose queer Americana heartbreaker “Kiss You” won Song of the Year in the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. A favorite at the Philadelphia Folk Festival and WXPN’s World Cafe Live, she tours from the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters.     A variety of vendors will join Hansberry Garden volunteers to offer plants, plant-related items and home-baked treats at the annual Hansberry Garden & Nature Center Plant Fair and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Garden (5150 Wayne Avenue, in Philadelphia’s Southwest Germantown). In keeping with tradition, the event will happen the day before Mother’s Day, and it’s a great place to pick up some cut flowers at Megan’s Bouquet Bar, a houseplant from Plant and People, or a perennial, herb or tomato seedling from Hansberry Garden volunteers.
