This park has a few good birding areas including the lakes, woods and meadows of the old golf course. We will concentrate on areas that are productive each month. Due to consistent flooding in the park please be prepared for muddy and wet areas. Water-proof shoes or mud boots are recommended. Dress for weather. Native Seed Saving

Join naturalist Anisa George in gathering seeds from some of the many native plants that can be found in the South Philly Meadows at FDR Park. You can bring home seeds for your own pots and gardens or gather for LandHealth who will cultivate them at our native plant nursery for propagating throughout the city. We will walk a 2 mile loop. All ages are welcome. Please bring your own water bottle and dress for the weather and to protect yourself from poison ivy (also a native plant!) exposure. Join us for a nature-writing camp in Philadelphia's historic FDR Park!In "Stories of FDR,” rising 5th–7th graders will spend the week creating writing inspired by the nature and history of FDR Park. Campers will explore the significance of this land using a range of different nature-writing genres, spanning from haiku to futuristic fiction.
