  • The Wissahickon in October with Debbie Hoellein, Jim McClory, and Peter & Jill Curatolo

Blue Bell Hill Park 798 W Walnut Ln, Philadelphia, PA, United States

Meeting at Blue Bell Field Parking Lot There should be plenty of parking available in the lot. There are porta potties available for use at Blue Bell Park. Join Debbie, Jim, Jill, and Peter as we hike the Wissahickon in October. Our route will take us through areas of historical and natural points of interest, including Historic RittenhouseTown, Saylor Grove, and the site of McKinney Quarry. We hope to see some beautiful fall foliage as we wonder—why do leaves change color? We’ll be walking over some steep and rocky trails on our approximately 4 mile route, so be prepared. Children

Photo courtesy of Friends of Saylor Grove Meeting at Blue Bell Park One reason we like hiking in the winter is that you can see clear across the Wissahickon. Join Debbie, Jim, and Terry on our first hike this winter season when we will not only see lovely vistas, but also how the flora changes with the cold weather, while beautiful rocks stay the same. And what type of fauna will we encounter in January? Our route to the other side of Lincoln Drive takes us through Historic Rittenhouse Town, and the site of the McKinney Quarry and Saylor Grove.

  • The Wissahickon in June with Andi Wingert and Debbie Hoellein

Meet at Blue Bell Hill Park Experience the Wissahickon in June with Andi, Debbie, and Jim. We last did this hike in January when we had beautiful vistas because the leaves were down. This time we will have beautiful flora and hopefully will hear if not see some pretty birds. Our 3.5-4 mile hike will bring us to the East Falls trail on the other side of Lincoln Drive where we will visit the McKinney Quarry. Expect some steep and rocky climbs and descents. Children 12 years and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult, but please, no dogs

Meet at Blue Bell Park Experience the Wissahickon in January with Andi, Debbie, and Jim.
