    Join us for a fun and creative afternoon of community quilting as a part of the Mother Tongue series, which celebrates healing and liberation through Black art. Bring your own fabric scraps or use some of ours to create a unique quilt square that can be the start of something beautiful or a stand-alone piece for your lap or table. No quilting experience necessary and all skill levels are welcomed! This event is free and a great opportunity to meet new people, share stories, and celebrate the healing power of Black culture. This program is a space led by yoga teacher Sudan Green, a certified movement and mindfulness teacher dedicated to making these practices more accessible to communities that need them most. It is an ode to the ancestors like Milford Graves who gathered communities around whole wellness- movement, mindfulness, and expression. This free series, facilitated by Luna and organized in partnership with Family Practice and Counseling Network (FPCN) requires no prior registration and welcomes participants of all abilities! Please bring a yoga mat, towel, and water bottle. We’ll have extra water and a limited supply of mats on hand as well. While the class begins at 3:15, participants are encouraged to gather and ground themselves in the space from 3-3:15pm. Classes will meet indoors in the Barn. Rain or shine!

    This free event is rain or shine! Programming will take place in the Upper Meadows and Barn, but will move fully indoors to the Barn in the case of inclement weather. Join Oshun Family Center for a rejuvenating and healing experience at Bartram’s Garden. Immerse yourself in the soothing practice of yoga and the transformative power of sound baths as we come together to restore balance and harmony to mind, body, and spirit. During this event, you will have the opportunity to participate in revitalizing yoga sessions led by a resident Yogi guiding you through gentle movements and breathing exercises

    In 1961, U.S. President John F. Kennedy selected a young test pilot named Edward Joseph “Ed” Dwight Jr. to become the first African American astronaut. While Ed was ultimately not selected by NASA, his cultural impact paved the way for those that followed. In honor of World Space Week, we’re celebrating his legacy. Join us and the Black Science Coalition and Institute for a free public showing of the documentary The Space Race. This classroom-based workshop is an invitation to immerse yourself in the rich history of the African Diaspora and water!  Learn more about the ways our ancestors engaged with water for resistance and joy during slavery times and during the Middle Passage, as well as the multitude of rich aquatic traditions in pre-European Atlantic African cultures.
