The Spring Ting Dinner and Auction raises critical funding for exhibitions and educational programs at ASHM. In collaboration with FDR Park and the Dandelion Project, we will have family-friendly activities and crafts inside and outside of the Museum to help us take care of the Earth! Celebrate Easter like a Swede at the American Swedish Historical Museum’s Easter Family Day! Join us on Sunday, March 24th, from 2-4 pm to experience Swedish Easter traditions. In Sweden, Easter kicks off with a trick-or-treat-like candy hunt on Maundy Thursday. Children dress up as Easter witches with long skirts, headscarves, painted red cheeks, and freckles and go from house to house, wishing people Happy Easter. Swedish Folk Weavings for Marriage, Carriage, and Home 1750-1840 Preview Night

Join us for a sneak preview of Swedish Folk Weavings for Marriage, Carriage, and Home! This exhibition features rare and artful cushions and bed covers woven by women for their dowries and households. Dating between 1750 and 1840, these textiles reflect the influence of trade and depict everything from exotic birds to Roman mosaics. Pea Soup Dinner

Shake off the cold with a hot bowl of Swedish pea soup at the American Swedish Historical Museum! Ärtsoppa, or Swedish yellow pea soup, is the traditional Thursday night supper in Sweden during the winter that dates back to medieval times. ASHM’s Pea Soup Dinner is served with sharp Swedish cheese, bread, and Swedish pancakes and coffee for dessert. There will also be a cash bar. You do not want to miss out on this delightful meal! Don’t miss this unique magical holiday experience! The outdoor Christmas Market includes your favorite holiday deli items, Christmas decorations and gifts, and SWEA bakery treats. The Swedish Christmas Café will sell holiday foods and sweets for refreshment. Enjoy daily Lucia processions and live music holiday music by the Last Chance duo throughout the day. Join ASHM for an intimate musical evening with Sofia Talvik. Unmistakably Nordic in flavor, Sofia Talvik still conforms to American interpretations of her original music, a North Sea siren blending sparkle and melancholy, creating a special niche of folk music. Food and bar will be available for purchase at 6 pm, and the performance is from 6:30 – 7:30 pm in the Museum's Terrace Tent. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers, pre-registration is appreciated, but tickets will be available at the door.

Join us on June 24th for American Swedish Historical Museum's Midsommarfest. Midsommarfest is a fun day for the entire family with traditional Swedish food, live music provided by the Last Chance duo, and activities for all ages. During the event, you can purchase flower crowns and refreshments. Also, check out our Swedish used book sale and Mormor's Attic Shop, which is filled with second-hand treasures. Tickets are $5, and children under 5 are free. The event includes Museum admission.

This afternoon drop-in program is Free. The program will take place under our tent on the museum's terrace, rain or shine.

The American Swedish Historical Museum is hosting the ExtrABBAganza dance party on the 11th of March! The dance party celebrates the iconic music of the Swedish band ABBA. DJ Robert Drake will spin the throwbacks as everyone lets out their inner Dancing Queen. Highlights of the evening will include a dancing and costume contest and live performances by the queens, Miss Troy, Scarlett Masters, Elieen O'Brennan, and Amerie Jameson! You will get a gallery tour, learn about Scandinavian holiday traditions and enjoy glögg and Swedish pepparkakor. We are offering two tour time slots at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The glögg reception will be at 5:00 pm, after or before your tour. You can on our website register for your preferred tour time.
