  • Walking Tour: Black Family Lives in Children’s Books

    Historic Germantown 5501 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, United States

    Historic Germantown presents the Black Family Lives in Children’s Books Walking Tour. The tour will be led by Barbara McDowell Dowdall, curator of previous HG exhibit, "Inspiring Bright April", & Susan Bockius, Germantown Crier contributor (Marguerite de Angeli). The tour includes visit sites that inspired Marguerite de Angeli’s ground-breaking children’s book, Bright April, and trace progress from white authors portraying African American families to the day when Black writers won the opportunity.

  • Stamp Rally

    Historic Germantown presents the 2026 Stamp Rally, an event where participants are encouraged to visit a series of attractions, collecting a stamp at each site to record their visit. The Historic Germantown stamp rally booklet was created especially for visitors to find and explore all of the amazing greenspaces in the Historic Germantown consortium; showcasing the exceptional parks, arboreta, farms, cemeteries, gardens, and landscaped grounds. When you visit each site, you collect a stamp which is original to that specific site recording your visit. The stamps all live in a designated “stamp house” at each individual site.
