All ages are welcome to join us for a reading about Lenape history and changing seasons!Join us in the sunroom of the Main House for a reading of When The Shadbush Blooms, by Carla Messinger and Susan Katz. This story is told from the point of view of a modern Lenni Lenape girl as she connects with her history by watching the seasons change. There are many plants and animals pictured in this wonderful story that you may recognize on the grounds of Glen Foerd today...including the shadbush itself, also known as the serviceberry!

Learn the art of knot tying at our hands-on workshop, where you'll master essential knots and even get crafty.Knots are a big part of the outdoors. Setting up a tent, securing your gear, and tying a bandage for first aid are just a few of the reasons everyone should have some knot knowledge in their toolbox. Stop by for a storytime all about Hibernation!Come warm up inside Glen Foerd and learn all about how animals hibernate for the winter!We'll be reading Winter Sleep, A Hibernation Story by Taylor, Morss, and Chiu. In the story, we'll follow a child and his grandma through a winter landscape to explore how the Earth prepares for the coldest time of year. You can follow along and spot the animals as they prepare to hibernate, and even make a cozy bear cave ornament of your own!

Learn the art of screen printing just in time to create your own Holiday tote bags and t-shirts!This week at LilyPADS, the kids will get to try out the art of screen printing! We’ll be joined by Glen Foerd’s Arts & Culture Program Manager, as we create our own Holiday Tote Bags & T-shirts! (*Be sure to bring a plain white or light-colored t-shirt with you!!!) This eight-week after-school program engages Philadelphia high school students in collaborative, hands-on art-making activities while incorporating history and the environment. Upon completion, each teen receives $250 and remains part of a community that encourages art-making in life, college, and career.We’ll have a screen printing station and information to share with teachers and students about how they can apply for the upcoming Spring 2024 session.
