Last chance to see some wintering gulls in Philly!Glen Foerd mansion sits along the Delaware River in the northeastern-most corner of Philly and is one of the best places in the city to study gulls during the winter. While there is no guarantee, we are hoping to see a rare gull such as Iceland or Glaucous Gull. There should also be a good amount of waterfowl out on the river and we can discuss how to distinguish Double-crested Cormorants from the Great Cormorants that visit the area in winter. Get a chance to watch cool birds at one of Philly's Top 3 birding locations!FDR Park has a few good birding areas, including the lakes, woods, and meadows of the old golf course. We will concentrate on areas that are productive each month. Due to consistent flooding in the park, please be prepared for muddy and wet areas. Waterproof shoes or mud boots are recommended. Find some great birds in Germantown!Join BirdPhilly for a walk at one of Philly's less birded parks at Fernhill Park.Located in Germantown, Fernhill Park, despite being sliced in half by Route 1, is a nice, little park with paved trails, beautiful trees, and open fields that make it ideal for birding.Let's meet at the park entrance at Abbottsford and McKean Ave.No binoculars? Watch the Eagles!Pennypack on the Delaware is uniquely positioned along the river providing crucial habitat for migrants and the odd rarity.The flats at the confluence of Pennypack Creek and the Delaware frequently host gulls and shorebirds.
