This park has a few good birding areas including the lakes, woods and meadows of the old golf course. We will concentrate on areas that are productive each month. Due to consistent flooding in the park please be prepared for muddy and wet areas. Water-proof shoes or mud boots are recommended. Dress for weather. Now running in its 39th year, this census will gather data on wintering birds all over Philadelphia. This is an all-day event that, for some teams, starts and ends with a search for owls. In the last few years, this has resulted in around 107 species (typically besting all Christmas Bird Counts in the area). If you are interested in participating, please contact [email protected].
