Peter Wentz Farmstead's Candlelight Event Saturday, December 3, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Lansdale, PA – Come spend a lovely winter’s eve with us at the Peter Wentz Farmstead’s annual Candlelight Event! The soft glow of candles will light your way as you explore this historic property. Celebrate the beginning of the holiday season with this picturesque look at wintertime on a colonial Pennsylvanian farm. Register for timed tickets in order to tour the first floor of the historic house and learn how people made do on cold December nights before the advent of electricity and central heating.

Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse invites families to its historic 6 ½ acre Playground and indoor play space in East Fairmount Park to celebrate all things frosty and fun in the midst of the holiday season! Families will enjoy an ice carving demonstration by local sculptor Roger Wing, s'mores roasting over fire pits, an array of winter-themed crafts, and tasty treats. Admission is $10 per child or free for adults, Smith members, and ACCESS card holders. This event is rain or shine.

Weathering the Winter

Saturday, February 10th from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Weathering the Winter Winters were harsh in the 18th century, but even in cold and snowy weather there was still plenty of work to do around the farm. Fires had to be built, food preserved and cooked, and animals needed tending. Visit the Farmstead on February 10th to watch our living historians demonstrate the types of farm chores a family like the Wentzes would have had to do this time of year. Saturday, February 24th and Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Maple Sugaring at Peter Wentz Farmstead Join our farmers as they create maple sugar from trees right here at the Farmstead! Watch as they tap the trees, collect the sap, and create the syrup. Learn about the Indigenous origins of maple sugaring and how the process has continued through to today. Once your mouth starts watering, stop by Philly Waffle Cabin's food truck and enjoy one of their delicious Belgian waffles! This program is weather dependent, if the temperature isn’t just right the sap may not flow!
