Mapping Our Watershed Community Celebration

Mapping Our Watershed, a participatory art and community science project taking place in Cheltenham Township will culminate with a free community celebration and pop-up art exhibition, held on Thursday, August 24 from 5:30-7:30pm at High School Park, located at Montgomery Ave & High School Road in Elkins Park, PA. Mapping Our Watershed is led by Elkins Park-based artist and educator Rebecca Schultz. The project aims to increase residents’ connection to and understanding the complex and interconnected ecology of the TTF Watershed. Native edible and medicinal plant species can be integrated into gardens and ecological restoration projects to create habitats that support (and include) humans as part of local ecosystems. We’ll consider stewarding edible and medicinal plant species in native habitats such as riparian corridors and glades and discuss how a habitat-based approach translates to yards, parks, and farms. Location: Whitaker Avenue & Loudon Street near the Tacony Creek Park Gateway, Philadelphia 19120 All tools and materials will be provided, including work gloves (though you’re welcome to bring your own).
