River Alive! Learning Trail Opening Celebration

Join TTF and the Juniata, Tacony Creek Park, and Philadelphia communities in welcoming back the River Alive! Learning Trail benches and animals back to Juniata Park! The Learning Trail is a new and exciting way for families to enjoy green space together while engaging with the natural environment all around them in Tacony Creek Park! Six benches and animal sculptures will be re-installed along Cayuga Street in Juniata Park to connect you to Tacony Creek: fox, fish, turtle, heron, water snake, and a river otter. Each sculpture includes an interactive water feature, song, and sign. Poetry connects the six stations

Native edible and medicinal plant species can be integrated into gardens and ecological restoration projects to create habitats that support (and include) humans as part of local ecosystems. We’ll consider stewarding edible and medicinal plant species in native habitats such as riparian corridors and glades and discuss how a habitat-based approach translates to yards, parks, and farms. We’ll explore the prospect of changing our foodways to patterns that favor native diversity, rewarding restoration and stewardship. This program takes place online on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Neighbors! Tired of the tires?! Upset about dumping in the park? Join us for the #CreekyCLEAN! Tacony Park Kick-off Weekend Clean Party on 08/17/2024 and help us transform Whitaker Gateway into a cleaner, greener space! 🌿 Together, we can make a difference and reclaim our beautiful park. To kick off our #CreakyCLEAN Tacony Park campaign TTF Watershed is partnering with Parks & Recreation and our park neighbors along Tampa Street to reclaim this gateway from years of short dumping of overgrowth. Street parking is available on-site. We will provide gloves and all the tools/supplies, such as trash bags and trash grabbers.
