    Saturday, February 24th and Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Maple Sugaring at Peter Wentz Farmstead Join our farmers as they create maple sugar from trees right here at the Farmstead! Watch as they tap the trees, collect the sap, and create the syrup. Learn about the Indigenous origins of maple sugaring and how the process has continued through to today. Once your mouth starts watering, stop by Philly Waffle Cabin's food truck and enjoy one of their delicious Belgian waffles! This program is weather dependent, if the temperature isn’t just right the sap may not flow!

  • First Friday: Books, Meet Their Makers!

    This First Friday, explore the intersection between art and science! See a display of artists’ books created by the Guild of Book Workers inspired by the Institute’s collection of historic sample books on textiles, paints, and dyes. These works of art will be on view on the museum’s mezzanine level, along with the Institute’s inspirational sample books on display on the first floor. Members of the Guild will also be on hand at a bookmaking table to show off the tools of their trade and to demonstrate how the magic happens! Hear from the president of the Guild and Institute

  • Conversation with Dr. Jason Karlawish and Curator Lauren Rosenblum

    Join The Print Center for a Conversation between Dr. Jason Karlawish, co-director at Penn Memory Center, and Lauren Rosenblum, Jensen Bryan Curator at The Print Center. Karlawish, a specialist in aging and neuroscience, and Rosenblum will explore the intersections between science and art in this walk through of the exhibition. They will discuss how the artworks reveal the artists’ experiences as caregivers, as well as insights from current research on dementia. This program is presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Memory, Loss,” on view at The Print Center through November 22. This event is free and open to the public,

    For this one-hour outing, we will meet at noon outside of Lloyd Hall public bathrooms located at 1 Boathouse Row, or you can plug this location into your map (39.968953, -75.184904). We hope to encounter early spring migrants like Black-Crowned Night Heron below the dam on the Schuylkill, Pine Warbler singing in the trees and lingering winter waterfowl. Access Features Surface/Terrain: The park surface is composed of paved path, metal boardwalk, loose brick sections and grassy areas. Public Bathrooms and water fountains located at Lloyd Hall.
