  • TTF Spring BioBlitz 2023

    Join TTF Watershed Partnership for a week-long BioBlitz within the TTF Watershed in Philadelphia and Montgomery County! Starting on Saturday, April 22, volunteers can use the free iNaturalist smartphone app to document wildlife observations across the TTF Watershed and add them to our growing TTF project page: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/tookany-tacony-frankford-watershed-wildlife Participate from anywhere in the watershed on your own using the app. The BioBlitz will end on Monday, May 1 when we’ll see how many species we were all able to spot and identify.     Spend some quality time with our Gnome in Residence. This year’s Performing Artist in Residence is our own Professional Hermit, Alex Tatarsky. Alex’s performances will take place on the grounds of Glen Foerd and will inhabit a space somewhere in between eco-lecture, object dance, and foraged dinner theater. Although the concept of the professional hermit faded away at the end of the 18th century, it has not left us entirely.     Join Sierra Club Philly for a morning of nature and fun at Tacony Creek Park! All families will be given a scavenger hunt, to find different things and creatures in nature at the park, and will be able to visit TTF’s River Alive Trail! Light snacks will be provided. This is a bilingual event and will be available in both English and Spanish. In the event of rain, this outing will be postponed to the following day, Sunday August 27th.     Let’s take a healthy stroll in the park together! Join your neighbors every Friday or Saturday morning, or Sunday afternoon for a healthy and empowering stroll on the Tacony Creek Park trail. On Fridays, we meet from 9:00am–10:00am at E Tabor Rd & E Olney Ave. All are welcome to join us for this free walking group. The trail is a paved, fairly flat Circuit Trail; all ages and abilities are encouraged to join us. All programs follow Philadelphia Covid guidelines. Register Here to join. In Sweden, Easter kicks off with a trick-or-treat-like candy hunt on Maundy Thursday. Children dress up as Easter witches with long skirts, headscarves, painted red cheeks, and freckles and go from house to house, wishing people Happy Easter.
