People of the Park Ribbon Cutting

We are so excited to invite the Tacony Creek Park community to join us for the People of the Park Ribbon Cutting. We will host the first ceremony at the southernmost sign, along the Tacony Creek Park trail right below the gateway at East Tabor Road and East Olney Avenue. The speaking program and ribbon cutting will run from 2pm to 2:30pm. The first sign honors Maria Vazquez; we will walk to each of the 3 other signs to cut ribbons with the featured people (Thomas & Savannah McHale, Dr. Rhoda Moise, and Seri Chao). We are bringing the FREE Festival back on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 1 pm – 5 pm at the Finletter School located at 6101 North Front Street Philadelphia, PA 19120. Revival Walk: Philly Celebrates Jazz Edition

Join Olney Culture Lab on Saturday, April 20 from 10:30 am – 12:30 pm for a Revival Walk (Philly Celebrates Jazz Edition) through Tacony Creek Park in the Olney neighborhood of Philadelphia where we will honor the sun, wind, trees, birds and nature. Mama Carla will share stories illuminating the history of jazz as well as our place in community with one another and with our natural environment. Originally created by dance artist / activist Lela Aisha Jones during the height of the pandemic, the Revival Walks brought healing, solace and joy to participants, as facilitators lifted up Afro-centric practices
