Meeting at Historic Rittenhouse Town Dr. King once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: what are you doing for others?” By volunteering on this day, we will be giving back to our park, it’s users, the creek, and the plants and animals that rely on it to live. This year, we will be doing a clean-up beneath and around the recently re-opened bridges that connect Forbidden Drive to the paved bike path. Meeting at Historic Rittenhouse Town. This was rescheduled from Saturday, April 1. Are you free this day? Do you want to help out the Wissahickon Watershed? Then join us for this very exciting service day! With the help of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, we will be closing Lincoln Drive (the only main road that runs right next to the creek within Wissahickon Valley Park) from Wissahickon Avenue down to Ridge Avenue for a large-scale litter clean-up! Join us with your family at Riverbend as a Martin Luther King Day of Service! Riverbend is hosting a Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to honor the life and legacy of Dr. King and improve their communities. This event is open to ALL ages! Please bring your own water and work gloves to the event. Volunteers will be working outdoors helping our Habitat Manager with invasive plant removal.
