Storyville: Searching for the Songs of Wanaragua by Eli LaBan
Scribe Video Center 3908 Lancaster Avenue, Philadelphia, PA, United StatesJoin Scribe Video Center and Big Picture Alliance for a screening of "Searching for the Songs of Wanaragua" at Scribe on December 12, 7PM. This short documentary follows Cesar Vargas, a Garifuna language teacher and researcher from Honduras, and Eli LaBan, a documentary filmmaker from Philadelphia, as they record and translate traditional songs to use as teaching tools to support the revitalization of the endangered afro-indigenous Garifuna language in Honduras. Eli LaBan is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker who has worked on projects pertaining to social development, cultural preservation, and education across the world.

We Are the Seeds Philly + Powwow 2026
Cherry Street Pier 121 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA, United StatesJoin us September 19–20 at Cherry Street Pier for a weekend celebrating contemporary Indigenous arts, cultures, and community. Saturday features the Seeds Philly Powwow, Indigenous artists, El Mercado Cultural, and hands-on art activities including corn husk doll making and paper tipi art making. Sunday brings music, dance, artist talks, storytelling, and workshops. Canpatlaneci Danza Azteca del Anahuac, We Are the Seeds Dance Troupe, singer Jennifer Kreisberg, composer Zachariah Julian, and more, along with a creative writing and improvisation workshop with Nicholson Billey and Indigenous Caribbean gourd painting and an artist talk with Priscilla Bell.
