A Taste of First State Ciders

Mt Cuba 3120 Barley Mill Rd, Hockessin, DE, United States

Join award-winning cidermaker “Doc” Cheskin in a discussion of the rich history of apples, cider, and hard cider in this region and the art and science of cider making. Native northern American apples were joined by those brought over from Europe early in the development of the original 13 colonies. Delaware produced one of the first apple drinks of Colonial American – cider, which, when fermented, becomes hard cider. Sample a variety of ciders including one made exclusively for Mt. Cuba using local ingredients. (Ages 21 and over) This program takes place in person at Mt. Cuba Center on Saturday,

Pea Soup Dinner

Ärtsoppa, or Swedish yellow pea soup, is the traditional Thursday night supper in Sweden during the winter that dates back to medieval times. ASHM’s Pea Soup Dinner is served with sharp Swedish cheese, crisp bread, and Swedish pancakes and coffee for dessert. There will also be a cash bar. Gather with friends and family to enjoy time together at the Museum. Don’t miss out on this delightful meal! Pre-registration is required by January 24th. $30 for members, $35 for nonmembers.

Princess and Frogs Tea Party

Princesses, Princes, and Frog Lovers of all ages are cordially invited to Riverbend’s Tea Party. Dress your best and enjoy an afternoon that’s all about amphibians: stories, crafts, and an animal encounter with Riverbend’s Green Tree Frog ambassadors. Guests will enjoy light tea party fare and the event is hosted by a very special princess who loves frogs! Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their finest prince and princess attire for a family-friendly magical afternoon in Riverbend’s Barn. The gala is a caregiver and child event and all guests must have a ticket.
