    Saturday, February 24th and Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm Maple Sugaring at Peter Wentz Farmstead Join our farmers as they create maple sugar from trees right here at the Farmstead! Watch as they tap the trees, collect the sap, and create the syrup. Learn about the Indigenous origins of maple sugaring and how the process has continued through to today. Once your mouth starts watering, stop by Philly Waffle Cabin's food truck and enjoy one of their delicious Belgian waffles! This program is weather dependent, if the temperature isn’t just right the sap may not flow!

    Join us with your family and friends to adopt and plant trees at Riverbend. Spring is a wonderful time to plant trees, just as the preserve is coming back to life. Planting trees helps combat climate change and maintain our local water supply, as trees keep excess stormwater runoff from heading to the Schuylkill River watershed. Spend the morning with us at Riverbend enjoying: -Planting trees and learning about the trees that call Riverbend home -Playing tree-tastic games -Filling out an adoption certificate for the tree you planted -And participating in the Philadelphia City Nature Challenge BioBlitz!   • Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop

    Do you have invasive vines growing in your yard? Join Riverbend staff for the first event in our Sustainable Living Series to learn how to remove vines and turn them into something beautiful. We’ll begin the workshop outside with some easy-to-follow instructions on removing invasive vines like English Ivy and five-leaf akebia. Clippers and work gloves will be provided. Next we’ll move inside Riverbend’s barn to turn the vines into a decoration you can enjoy in your own home or gift to a loved one. Every participant will receive a wooden wreath frame and have access to tools and supplies
