    Bluebird numbers were once in decline but thanks to the efforts of conservation minded individuals and organizations their numbers have increased. Unfortunately, some Bluebird lovers think they are doing a good deed by simply putting up a nest box in their back yard. That is not the case and often can do more harm than good. Join us for this informative session if you are interested in being a responsible Bluebird ‘landlord’ or just want to learn more about these charismatic and native cavity nesting birds.

  • The Secret Life of the Red Fox Book Reading and Art Workshop

    Riverbend is excited to host local illustrator Kate Garchinsky for a reading of "The Secret Life of the Red Fox" followed by an art workshop. This fun, educational story is perfect for a winter's day. The story begins on a snowy February afternoon and follows the mother fox’s life cycle as the seasons change around her. Following the book reading, Kate will lead participants through an art project. This event is intended for children ages 6-12. A parent or guardian must accompany the child to the event.     Start your Christmas celebrations by indulging in a Swedish holiday Smörgåsbord prepared by Jeffrey A. Miller Catering. Join us for a delicious spread of all your favorites including Christmas ham, herrings, meatballs, salads, and bread. A selection of ASHM Christmas Market vendors will be open from 5-7 pm, so you can shop while you enjoy a drink and some hors d’oeuvres before dinner.   • Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop

    Do you have invasive vines growing in your yard? Join Riverbend staff for the first event in our Sustainable Living Series to learn how to remove vines and turn them into something beautiful. We’ll begin the workshop outside with some easy-to-follow instructions on removing invasive vines like English Ivy and five-leaf akebia. Clippers and work gloves will be provided. Next we’ll move inside Riverbend’s barn to turn the vines into a decoration you can enjoy in your own home or gift to a loved one. Every participant will receive a wooden wreath frame and have access to tools and supplies
