Sun Day, September 21, 2025 is a national day of celebration and action on solar energy. Sun Day Philadelphia, at Love Park from 11 am - 3 pm will be full of solar powered and sun inspired activities for all ages. Live music, arts, solar car races, solar s'mores, solar kits for teachers, zero emission vehicle displays and educational and advocacy exhibits on home electrification and clean energy. The event is free and open to the public. Sun Day is cosponsored by the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association, and Third Act Pennsylvania.

Learn how to transform farm sourced fibers into an original garment. All materials included. All ages and abilities encouraged.Nuno felting is the process of making a new textile by combining a loose weave fabric with a natural fiber such as farm sourced mohair from goats or merino wool from sheep. Visitors will learn how to create textures in layers and create imagery in surface design in this no sew process.Workshop by studio 16 resident artist Bonnie MacAllister, M.Ed. who has studied textiles while on Fulbright-Hays to Ethiopia and on residence in Iceland and Lyon, France.

Initiate your own exploration of the great outdoors at one of our preserves, open from dawn to dusk. Some preserves are only open six days a week (one day reserved for rest; please check the website before you visit). Once you upload your photo discovery to iNaturalist, it will automatically appear in our “project,” which allows Natural Lands staff, volunteers, and scientists to see what species are present at our preserved open spaces. Hellerick’s Adventure Farm Fall Festival kicks off September 12 and will feature a 5-acre corn maze, hundreds of pumpkins and gourds, and over 50 unique attractions, plus its signature attractions, the Barn Yard mini golf course, aerial adventure, goat yoga and goat adventure, and silo climbing wall. Guests can also partake in u-pick flowers and crops; availability based on the season, as well as enjoy five-acres of sunflower fields boasting 25 different varieties blooming, occurring until first frost. Fresh baked goods and cider will be available on select weekends in September and every weekend in October.
