Cliveden offers free house tours the second Saturday of the month through October. Tours are available from 12 pm to 4 pm, beginning on the hour; last tour of the day is at 3 pm. Visitors will view two exhibits: "Procuring Liberty in the Emerging Nation" and "Looking Glass." No registration is needed. Visitors should come to the Barn (98 E. Cliveden Street, 19119) and speak with a Cliveden Interpreter to begin their tour.
Among the best-known buildings of Germantown are the sturdy, elegant stone structures known today as Cliveden, the Johnson House, the Germantown Mennonite Meeting House, and the Concord School House. Remarkably, these structures can all be attributed to one builder, Jacob Knorr. This tour will bring visitors into these charming and significant sites. We will investigate what we know about the building of early Germantown, and what mysteries remain. In the case of inclement weather, this tour will be rescheduled. Bartram’s Garden: The Seasons is an exhibition of photographs taken by Robert G. Smith on his walks through Bartram’s Garden. Come join us for the opening reception at Studio 34 Yoga Healing Arts. The exhibit will be up until early October 2026, available for viewing at Studio 34’s gallery Monday-Friday, 5–7:30pm, and during Studio 34’s arts events. Learn more here.
